Founded in 1966 and located in the Manistee National Forest of Michigan, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp is a summer community of the fine arts. Blue Lake serves more than 5,400 junior high and high school students each summer, who major in music, art, dance, and drama. More than 200 staff positions are available for motivated college students with interest in working with young people. Spend your summer making a difference!
CABIN COUNSELOR POSITIONS: June 15—August 16, salary $1,625—$2,550 (based on education and experience) plus room, board, and extensive educational opportunities. Staff duties include living with and supervising 10-12 campers, assisting with recreational and social activities, working 15-20 hours a week at a specific assignment (assisting in various departments), and consistently acting on all campers' needs.
College Musicians Wanted: Vocalists, pianists, violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, bass clarinet, saxes, trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, percussion. Musicians may have the opportunity to perform with the Festival Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Choir, or staff chamber ensembles as part of their work assignment. A staff solo competition offers performers an opportunity to perform for the camp community as part of Blue Lake's Summer Arts Festival. Teaching positions with junior campers are available for those who qualify.
Lifeguards Wanted: Blue Lake will train and certify 20 cabin counselors to serve as lifeguards at three pools throughout the summer. Lifeguard an average of 2 hours daily at one of three camp pools, in addition to serving as a camp counselor. Must be a competent swimmer, physically fit, and able to arrive at Blue Lake by June 10.
HEALTH STAFF POSITIONS: June 15—August 16, salary based on certifications, ranging from $1,825 —$2,750 plus housing and all meals. Rotating schedule, variety of duties, excellent camp health facility. Outstanding opportunity for those pursuing careers in health-related fields to gain hands-on experience with short-term patient care, documentation, triage, and basic diagnostics.
